Mast Curry – Asia’s 1st real time movie
Hindi film industry is booming and how? Film-makers are experimenting like never before.
Amit R Agarwal, an independent film-maker, is making Asia’s first real-time movie, Mast Curry. The film has Roushika Reikhi, Tatiana Arkhangels’Kaya, Rahul Sethi & Ankit Challa playing key roles; apart from Amit R Agarwal playing the lead protagonist.
The film was extensively shot in the picturesque resorts: Corbett Hideaway & Riverview Retreat located near the famous Jim Corbett National Park, Uttaranchal in India.
Short Synopsis
Amit elucidates “The film is a comedy with a message – life is precious, live it”. Mast Curry tells the story of a film-maker, Honey Kapoor, who wants to commit suicide. A hooker, Saira, comes in and they strike a deal that Honey will commit suicide and Saira will film the suicide. However, just before Honey can commit suicide, he gets a call from his ex-girlfriend, Kelly, informing about a 3-film deal he has signed with Yash-light films; hence the conflict, Honey doesn’t want to commit suicide but Saira will have none of it: she wants Honey either to commit suicide or get murdered by her ardent admirer, dreaded don, Bamboo Bhai.
About the Cast:
Roushika Reikhi, a fairly known face in South-Indian films with beauty-pageants like Miss International and Miss Punjab; is all excited about playing Saira. She says “initially, I rejected the film, as the film is a modest-budget film; but when Amit narrated the script to me, I fell in love with the script and most importantly the character of Saira. The role has enough meat for any actress to devour. I guess it will be my career best performance.”
Tatiana, an actress, stylist and ballerina based in Moscow; has done many international assignments including a few Hollywood productions. She says that apart from her role, she also loved the beautiful locations that the film was shot in. “I had a wonderful mix of work and vacations. Whenever I wasn’t shooting, I went sight-seeing, which was fun, considering we were almost in the middle of the jungle.”
Ankit reminisces his casting, as Bamboo Bhai with a naughty grin, “Initially, Amit sir told me as a matter-of-fact that I didn’t fit the role, but I was quite keen on getting the role so I requested sir to give me the scenes of the character, Bamboo Bhai, I recorded the entire scenes on a tape and the result is I bagged the role.”
Rahul Sethi, who has done a lot of television, is all excited about to be on silver-screen “35mm has its own charm, which can’t be equaled by the idiot-box (read TV). Though I have a small role, it is quite integral to the plot and it sets the tone for Mast Curry 2”.
Mast Curry has Leisure Hotels coming in as location partners. “I guess Leisure Hotels is one of the most professionally managed Hotel chain in India. I have been their frequent customer and it was here that the idea of Mast Curry first germinated. It was natural then that Leisure Hotels’ properties Corbett Hideaway and Riverview Retreat were my first choice to set the film and shoot the film” Amit briefs.
Tatiana endorses the choice of Leisure Hotels, full throttle with her radiant smile, “Leisure Hotels, our location partners, really made the entire shooting experience very enjoyable. The staff particularly took extra care to make us actors comfortable, so that even after the taxing schedule we had, we actors still looked fresh and our best”.
Amit who is currently also busy with the post-production of his previous feature “I Am A Love Addict” produced by Fire Films and Media Pvt. Ltd. said “Mast Curry has shaped as per my expectations and I am really looking forward to seeing it on big screen.”
